One of the highlights of Summit County, Colorado real estate is the picturesque mountain Town of Dillon along Lake Dillon.  Our Colorado home loans are popular for the affordable real estate in Dillon, with single-family Dillon CO homes in simple neighborhoods near the town's center and newer condominiums and townhomes in Dillon Valley East.

Although less than a thousand residents live in homes in Dillon, Colorado, tens of thousands of visitors from all around the world come and go, visiting the unique restaurants, pubs such as the Dillon Brewpub, and shops, boating on Lake Dillon, and hiking in the surrounding White River National Forest.  Oh, yes, plenty of the tourists are part-time residents of nearby ski resorts in Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper Mountain, and Arapahoe Basin--all just a short free-shuttle ride away.

Founded in 1883 by Moses Dillon, a Quaker from Maryland, the friendly community moved to the present location during the construction of Dillon Dam in the 1960s.  The engineering feat established a source of water for the Denver water system by redirecting water under the Continental Divide and down to the South Platte River Basin.

Today, the Dillon Reservoir, called Lake Dillon, is the major waterfront in the Colorado Rocky Mountain resort region with its 25 miles of shoreline.  Part of the 50-mile bike-trail system that connects several resort areas passes along the perimeter of the lake at 8,800 feet above sea level.  The lake is the place to sail, wind surf, motor boat, kayak, watch sunsets, listen to live concerts at the marina, and experience fireworks on the Fourth of July.

In addition to the one-of-a-kind shops, the town features stores such as Borders, Office Max, and Sport Authority and more icons such as The Old Dillon Inn, which moved with the town during the sixties, and year-round entertainment at the Lake Dillon Theater.

Newcomers will find that their input on community issues is welcome.  There are many ways to add value to the community through volunteerism and the vibrant senior citizens add strength to the community.  Summit County School District operates schools nearby and Colorado Mountain College campuses are in the area.  Once you live in this resort area, you will find a rewarding camaraderie and vivacious community spirit--a pinnacle of your entire life.

The Home Rule Municipality is located in the Mountain Time Zone and uses zip code 80435, area code 970, FIPS code 08-0435, and GNIS feature ID 0169442.  For real estate and loan information, contact Kelly Oberbillig of Paragon Real Estate Group LLC at Kelly@Paragon4Home.com or call (303) 946-3745.
