Suspended at an elevation of 7,935 feet in the heart of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, the Town of Granby is the perfect place to get away from it all.  Purchase a Granby CO home in the mountains, a cabin, or a condominium.  Located along U.S. Highway 40 in Middle Park about 85 miles west of Denver CO real estate, Granby offers breathtaking views of the Continental Divide and Rocky Mountain National Park.  Its homey small-town atmosphere, between Grand Lake and Winter Park real estate, lends itself to casual meetings and incredible recreational opportunities.

If your search for vacation property near Denver, Colorado real estate is for affordable vacation spots, check out the Granby CO real estate.  Although it is the most populous town in Grand County, only 1,525 residents were counted in the year 2000.

The just-the-right-sized community is headquarters for gold-medal river water, trophy lake fishing, hiking, biking, boating, rafting, horseback riding, hunting, skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, dog sledding, snowshoeing, camping, and a long list of creative combinations of ways to get out into nature.  The Colorado State Forest State Park north of town offers 50 miles of marked  hiking trails, 112 miles of mountain bike and horseback trails, and 75 miles of 4-wheel driving trails along with snowmobile trails.  There are 158 developed campsites.

Outdoor activities in the Arapaho National Forest, at the Colorado River Headwaters, the Williams Fork river, Fraser River and Rocky Mountain National Park will keep your family busy in a healthy way.  The new Grand Elk and SolVista golf courses and housing developments are just in time to make the community one of the most popular places along the Front Range to build or buy a special place.

Founded in 1904 along the route of the Denver, Northwestern & Pacific Railway, Amtrak provides service through town on the California Zephyr that runs between Chicago and San Francisco.  Incorporating in 1905, it is named after the US Attorney for the region, Granby Hillyer.  Many a story circulates about the charismatic, one-of-a-kind, and sometimes infamous types of people who historically settled the area—at times contentiously—under the Homestead Act

Located in the Mountain Time Zone, the community uses 80446 for a zip code, 970 for its area code, 08-31605 for FIPS, and 0178402 for its GNIS feature ID.  The median household income of $46,667 was calculated in 200.  The median age is 34 years.
